This course is aimed at those wishing to gain an understanding of the different options and criteria for whenever considering insolvency as a potential solution to a client’s debt problem. It is expected that attendees will have completed either the CMA Generalist Training Parts 1 & 2 or the Wiseradviser equivalent training prior to booking onto this course.

The day covers the following:

  • Bankruptcy
  • Individual Voluntary Arrangements
  • Debt Relief Orders

Essential Benefits

Essential Benefits Training:

This course is aimed at anyone wanting to know more about welfare benefits

The welfare benefits system is complicated and can be a minefield. CMA Essential Benefits training is to help enable advisers to feel more confident in understanding their clients' benefits situations and how to deal with specific issues that are regularly encountered.

The day covers the following:

  • distinguishing between means tested and non-means tested benefits
  • understanding who can claim which benefits/tax credits and how entitlement is calculated
  • Universal Credit and other welfare reforms
  • an overview of disability benefits including Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • how to help clients with: sanctions, benefit overpayments, council tax bills, housing benefit reductions, social fund loans

Centre Manager

CMA’s Centre Manager Training:

This day is aimed at managers of new centres to help them understand the requirements of running a CMA centre. It is also ideal for managers of existing CMA centres who wish to enhance their knowledge, experience and understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding the running of a debt advice centre.

The day covers the following:

  • Self evaluation
  • Role of a Centre Manager
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Compliance Monitoring
  • Business Plans and Risk Assessments
  • FCA and Gabriel
  • Training records
  • Maintaining relationships with centre staff and clients
  • Client File Reviews
