Jasmine Birtles: Patron. Jasmine is a money expert, TV and radio personality, speaker and author of 38 books. She has set up, and runs, moneymagpie.com; a lifestyle-based money website. You may have seen her on TV or heard her on the radio talking about money - most importantly helping everyone with essential elements of personal finance such as saving money, getting out of debt, pensions, benefits and tax credit. She soon discovered a passion for financial reporting and now aims to demystify all things money; so that everyone can make informed financial decisions. She's regularly on ITV's 'This Morning', 'Good Morning Britain', SKY TV 'Sunrise'. She's even competed on BBC 2's Celebrity Eggheads! Jasmine also gives talks and workshops about money including to staff at the BBC, The Financial Times, BlackRock Pensions, Aegon and the Portuguese Government. When she's not running MoneyMagpie.com, public speaking or in the media, Jasmine studies her daily Bible lesson and attends church, looks after 'Bertie' the long-haired dachshund once a week when his owner's at work, writes music, sings; and even does a bit of stand-up comedy!
Julian Mander: Chair of Trustees. Julian is Centre Manager at Riverside Money Advice in Birmingham, oversees a number of missional teams within the local church community. His background in systems analysis, IT and management has given Julian a keen insight into the blend of people, systems and strategy required for a successful organisation. His long campaign to beat his wife at Scrabble has finally seen them draw level at game #3992, and is occasionally let out at weekends to tackle an obstacle course or trail run.
Heather Keates OBE: CEO & Trustee. Heather has spent 27 years working in the field of debt advice at both local and national levels. Currently, as well as running CMA, she helps at her local advice centre in Shrewsbury. Heather lives in rural Shropshire with her family and happily spends her free time sewing, knitting, strimming down brambles and cheering on her beloved Brighton and Hove Albion football team.
Tim Jackson BA, ACA: Finance Trustee. Following a successful career in finance, God called Tim out of that to set up a debt advice centre in 2013. The vision developed with a food bank and belonging group for those with addiction issues. In addition to these roles, he supports a couple of national charities and works part time for a public company. Tim also helps to lead a local Church.
Sarah Vinson: Trustee. Sarah is based in North Cornwall and is the Centre Manager at Launceston Money Advice Centre. Previously, she was a senior manager within a major international IT company in their sales support and business development area. She was also a uniformed scout leader for more than 30 years in Buckinghamshire, with roles at section, group, district and county level. Sarah worships at a lively Anglican/Methodist Ecumenical Partnership church where she plays the organ for Sunday worship, is an Anglican Lay Pastoral Minister and sits on her local Deanery Synod as well as the Truro Diocesan Synod.
Alison Padfield: Trustee. Alison became aware of CMA when she became the CEO at Churches Housing Action Team (CHAT) who have been a CMA centre since 2015. She lives in Mid Devon with her husband and enjoys spending time with family and friends, and they particularly enjoy walking the nearby coast paths and moor. She is at her happiest in the kitchen baking cakes and playing happy music at full volume! Alison has been at St George and St Pauls Church in Tiverton for 28 years and as well as being on the PCC she regularly hosts the 11-13s midweek bible study (where they enjoy the fruits of her labour in the kitchen!)
Julie-Anne Wanless: Trustee. Julie-Anne is the centre manager for St Andrew's Community Networks's debt centre in Liverpool, where she has been for the last 22 years. Away from debt advising she enjoys looking after her grandchild, crochet, sewing and walking her dog on the beach.
The systems and communication that Community Money Advice has in place to support the affiliated centres are excellent and internal records and systems are likewise. Considering the geographical spread of staff, Board members and affiliated centres and small number of staff this organisation achieves a very high standard of efficiency, quality and outcomes.
