Community Money Advice is run by an employed staff team of seven (all part time, hours equal to 4 FTEs) supported by nineteen volunteers (working hours equal to 2 FTEs), and overseen by seven volunteer Trustees and the Company Secretary.
Staff & Volunteers
Community Money Advice is run by our National Director and founder, Heather Keates. Heather has spent nearly 15 years working in the field of debt advice. As well as running CMA, Heather sat on the Consumer Indebtedness Working Group, looking at issues surrounding personal debt in the UK, and is in demand as a consultant.
John Franks is CMA's Operations Manager, responsible for CMA services, projects and planning, along with the management of the CMA staff team. He has worked in a variety of senior operations and project management roles in both the retail and charity sectors, and joined CMA in 2007.
STAFF TEAM
Rory Sanders is a member of the Institute of Money Advisers and has many years' experience as a debt adviser, a manager and a trainer. Rory is responsible for CMA's Training Programme and is also the Operations Support Manager for the N&W England and Wales.
Susie Bradshaw is the Operations Support Manager for London South East. She has run her own business, been a legal practice manager, and has many years' experience in debt advice and advice centre management.
Richard Payne is the Operations Support Manager for S&E England. For many years the financial director of the Christian charity YWAM, Richard has run many community service projects and is an experienced, practicing debt adviser and advice centre manager.
Alan Davidson is the Operations Support manager for Scotland. Alan has years of experience in community project development, including work with money advice projects and housing associations, and also brings a wealth of partnership development, marketing and fundraising skills to the team.
Rachel Franks (NB no relation to John Franks) manages administration, treasury, website and data management work from our Head Office in Shrewsbury. She has extensive previous experience of administration gained in the finance sector.
VOLUNTEERS
CMA's staff team are generously supported by a team of volunteers (currently 19 people working hours equalling 2 FTEs) who work as Generalist Debt Advice Trainers, and advisers on the CMA Adviceline. In addition many experienced debt centre managers work with our Operations Support Managers to provide local mentoring for new centres joining CMA.
Trustees
Chair of Trustees Nick Priggis is a community development consultant with over 17 years experience of evaluations, feasibility studies and participatory training for grass roots community groups.
CEO (and Trustee) Heather Keates has spent nearly fifteen years working in the field of debt advice. Currently, as well as running CMA, she is a volunteer at her local advice centre.
Finance Director Mike Harding is a chartered accountant and Financial Director of a law firm specialising in business debt recovery.
Martin Charlesworth is the leader of a church that runs a community centre which provides a base for many social action projects inclusive of debt advice, and is a trustee of community and church based charities in the UK and overseas.
Nigel Ring has had a senior administrative role with the Newfrontiers family of churches for 30 years and travels internationally helping churches develop mercy ministries among disadvantaged people.
Alan Edwards is an experienced debt adviser and advice centre manager who has been running Antioch Money Advice Centre at Salem Chapel in Colwyn Bay for more than 5 years.
Having worked in the banking sector, Susan Robinson was stirred to train as a debt adviser in 2002. Susan runs the Jubilee Debt Advice Centre at New Life Baptist Church in Northallerton.
Alan and Susan bring to the Trustees' team the vital perspectives of both hands-on advisers and users of CMA services.
Company Secretary Ian Dancy is a retired official of the Bank of England. Ian also co-ordinates CMA’s training programme.
