Generalist Training Days

In order to reach the required standard of Generalist Debt Adviser qualification CMA offers an initial two day training course

Debt Advice Part 1 Training Day

  • Usually 10.00am - 4.00pm
  • Aimed at beginners

The CMA Part 1 training day is aimed at people with little or no experience of debt advice. It can be used as a kick start to a training program or just as an envisioning day to find out if debt advice is for you. The day covers the following topics:

  • The debt advice process
  • Causes and effects of debt
  • Liabilities, contracts and Consumer Credit Act 1974
  • Priority and Non Priority debts
  • Maximising income and minimising expenditure
  • Financial statements
  • Repayment strategies

Course fee: £35 per head for members of a CMA team (£60 per head for other individuals, and £100 per head for statutory or non-charitable bodies) to cover all materials.

Debt Advice Part 2 Training Day

  • Usually 10.00am - 4.00pm
  • Some prior knowledge of debt advice required

The CMA Part 2 training day is aimed at those who have already attended the Part 1 training day or have some prior experience on the field of debt advice. This is an ideal day to increase your knowledge of the whole debt advice process and will allow you to more than reach the Generalist Debt Adviser standard. The day covers the following topics:

  • Financial statement refresher
  • Priority debt repayments
  • Alternative repayment strategies
  • Administration procedures
  • The court process
  • Post judgement options
  • Further exercises

Course fee: £35 per head for members of a CMA team (£60 per head for other individuals, and £100 per head for statutory or non-charitable bodies) to cover all materials.
